A final farewell to a dear loyal friend

With a very heavy heart, I laid a dear loyal friend to rest. Rest in peace, my dear Rusty. You will forever to be my beloved dog.
I don't think many knows how close Rusty is to me. When he was a puppy till when he came to Singapore, he had always been with me. Even on my long drive from Georgia to Pheonix, he was my companion.
Sleeping beside (or more correctly, above) me, we have spent many wonderful times together.
So a little about Rusty for all you guys.
He's a pek-a-poo (pekinese poodle mix) from Alabama. I got him when I was there studying. I did not know what I was getting into. But for the next 13 years or so, Rusty was a part of my life. From graduation to moving to Atlanta and then I brought him to Singapore. He became my mom's other baby (before Ethan). In fact, I believe mom spent more time with Rusty when Ethan was born.
A rascal who loved to run around; he loved attention. The last 6 months was difficult for mom and I. Rusty was on the brink of leaving. There were a couple of times, when he suffered something like a heart attack - glassy look, open mouth, and low or no heart beat.. I remember massaging him and hugging him close.
His final moments as sad but inevitable. We headed for our rooms at around 10pm; Rusty was laid into his carrier. At around 12 midnight, I came downstairs for water when I saw him. Rusty was gone. Lying on the floor; the same glassy look. But this time, I know he has left.
Thinking about those moments, makes me sad. But I know; the time spent together, as a family member, Rusty is contented. He certainly did not want to go. I don't want him to also. But this is what life is all about. Birth and death.
I miss you Rusty. I hope you are in a better place. And I will always have you in my heart. RIP my loyal Rusty.

The 3 black mice

Here's the 3 of us. Well coordinated in our outfits. (Aug 07). I think Ethan looks great in black and khakis. Don't you agree?
The other thing is Ethan has that moody look. I think he got that from Maureen.
